RRR
Shadows and light, sound and silence, synthesizer
and electric bass, masks and
suits, Liz Kosack and Dan Peter Sundland
Dan: «RRR is a mask and suit wearing, synth and bass playing Berlin based free improvising duo. Blending shadows, lights and sounds with instantaneous communication, they dig together at something bright and wonderful, often turning up dark or silly things in the process. Primary influences include morse code, dogs and science fiction.»
Liz: «An un-uttered conversation, with the oily residue of sleep, or lack of which back takes a step from dry this normalcy of place, these solid sandy cornerstones that mark the spot where what was real was. and we to be seen or see seem lit at once from just aside and back behind in undulation, fling the weft and warp our shapes up into what the wall-space swallows, well enough the distance to be sure the self and object splits, slit and up divided well among ourselves and all of yours.»
RRR did their first performance in early 2014, and have since then done several concerts in Germany, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Since starting they have expanded their expression to include work with video and light/shadow as well as collaborations with dancers and other musicians. The duo's first live recording is available as download or as a CD in a functional mask cover.
Liz Kosack was born on the feast day of Hildegard von Bingen and grew up in Yarmouth in Maine, USA, and was a part of the Brooklyn improvising scene until starting her Master's degree in composition and piano at Jazz Institut Berlin. In addition to being a synth and piano player, she makes masks and other objects and does various illustration work.
Dan Peter Sundland comes from the tiny village Børsa, just outside Trondheim in Norway. He studied at the renowned Jazz department of the NTNU Music Institute, and has a European Jazz Master's degree (EUJAM) with exchange to Copenhagen Rhythmical Conservatory and Jazz Institut Berlin. Other projects include Nina & the Butterfly Fish and Esp as well as his own chamber musical ensemble «Elevenette».
